When death comes

Death, shrivels the hearts of even the brave

Death, comes as a piercing thorn to the mind

Unwanted, ignored, silenced by the dream of the day

We walk away from what we know we can never escape

So here is me, for a change, escaping from you to you

O’ Death

Come to me as a friend

When everything has expired so

I will accept and embrace you forevermore

For I have spent my life

Vigilant of this day

Preparing for this day

Let there be no regrets or guilt for what has passed

But assurance, that I can melt

Into Death’s hands

With faith

Peace

And certainty.

When death comes to me, I don’t want it to stab me in the back,

I want it to face me

And speak to me

And then embrace a soul that is ready

A soul that is at peace

Not one wondering, lost and confused

But one at its peak

Of faith

Peace

And certainty.

When death comes to me, I want to surrender faithfully

With life lived,

Time well spent,

Peace obtained,

Servitude reached,

Light emitting

From my soul,

Tears overflowing,

And my forehead

Ground deep,

In the sand of humility.

Death, shrivels the hearts of even the brave

Death, comes as a piercing thorn to the mind

Unwanted, ignored, silenced by the dream of the day

We walk away from what we know we can never escape

So here is me, for a change, escaping from you to you.

With special thanks to M.B.
